Jan Svoboda

Photographs from the seventies

16.10.2014 - 1.3.2015

Atelier of Josef Sudek

Úvoz 24, Praha 1

Admission: 20 Kč full, 10 Kč reduced

In its sixtieth exhibition, the Josef Sudek Gallery is presenting the photographs of Jan Svoboda (1934—1990), which have been recently acquired for the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. They date from the 1970s, when Svoboda was accepted as an artist working in the medium of photography.
At the time, he was employed by the Museum to do photographic documentation. This compact exhibition also commemorates the works that he mounted himself, in which he was partly following on from Sudek. It turns out that many parallels exist between the oeuvres of the two men.
